Mike Sonko Reveals Fake Lawyer’s Whereabouts Amid DCI Manhunt

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko disclosed on Saturday morning that he housed fugitive bogus attorney Brian Mwenda at his offices in Mombasa during a manhunt conducted by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

Sonko also promised to transport the suspect to the DCI headquarters on Kiambu Road to give a statement.

In a video posted to his social media accounts on October 14, 2023, the former governor of Nairobi can be seen posing with Mwenda and urging him to explain his whereabouts.

“We are going to bail this guy out. DCI we are going to produce this guy to your offices, probably on Monday or Tuesday for him to record a statement,” Mike Sonko stated.

“If there are any charges to be filed against him, that’s okay as he is ready to be arraigned in court,” Sonko further divulged, adding that Mwenda was ready to face the authority at whatever cost.

In contrast, the accused stated he was prepared to demonstrate his innocence.

“I am ready to provide the actual context of what is really happening because it should be inconceivable to anyone with a brain that I have all this prowess,” the accused claimed in the video shared by Sonko.

In support of Mwenda, the former governor urged his colleagues and eminent attorneys to enroll in his course and argue any case that would be brought before the court.

“You are in safe hands, don’t worry kijana, we will present you to the DCI,” Sonko assured him. “I have checked his identity card and he is a young boy,” he added.

After hijacking the identity of a certified attorney, Brian Mwenda was accused of posing as a lawyer in Nairobi. The Law Society of Kenya, which flagged his credentials, also claimed that he defrauded unwitting clients and damaged the association’s reputation.

LSK requested that DCI locate and apprehend the suspect who was discovered to have practiced law without a license. According to reports, Mwenda was a Chuka University student studying criminology.
