Matiang’i to Appear Before DCI Tomorrow After Returning to Country

After a two-week trip to the United Kingdom, Fred Matiang’i, the former Interior Cabinet Secretary who has been facing investigations by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), has returned to Kenya.

Matiang’i’s trip was said to be due to an urgent private family matter, and he returned to Kenya in a private capacity.

He arrived at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 10:00 pm on Saturday on KLM Flight 0566.

Senior Superintendent of Police Michael Sang had earlier directed Matiang’i to appear at the DCI headquarters, citing a suspicion that Matiang’i had published false information about the alleged police raid two weeks ago.

However, Matiang’i’s lawyer, Danstan Omari, argued that the DCI did not follow the proper procedures for serving the summons and that neither Matiang’i nor his legal representatives had received a directive.

Omari stated that Matiang’i is willing to present himself for questioning if the DCI follows the correct procedures for issuing summons. Matiang’i’s return to Kenya has sparked speculation about the ongoing investigation, and many are keen to see how the DCI will proceed with the case.
