Malalah Meets Sifuna and Natembeya, Announces Major Meeting Next Week
UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malalah met with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, and other Western Region leaders on Thursday, July 25.
In their media briefing, Malalah explained that their meeting aimed to assess the political shifts in the country and identify the interests of the Western Region from the perspective of the new generation leaders.
Malalah mentioned that they planned to convene a broader meeting with all Western Region leaders on Monday in Kakamega to discuss the community’s future direction.
โWe have collectively decided not to advocate for our interests but to represent the communityโs collective voice. Our issue has been that current leaders often prioritize their agendas over the communityโs needs,โ Malalah stated.
Sifuna noted that there have been significant Gen Z protests in the Western region, highlighting pressing issues that need addressing.

He expressed hope that the upcoming meeting in Kakamega would enable the new generation of leaders to find solutions to these concerns.
โThe Western region has experienced substantial Gen Z protests, underscoring critical issues that need resolution. We hope that through the Kakamega meeting, we can collectively determine the best course of action and address these issues effectively,โ Sifuna commented.
Malalah added that they did not seek endorsements from political parties, fearing it might exacerbate tensions between Azimio and Kenya Kwanza factions.
โWe did not seek our parties’ approval, as that could have intensified divisions between the political camps. Our focus is solely on discussing our communityโs concerns,โ Malalah concluded.
This meeting follows President William Ruto’s recent nomination of the second batch of cabinet secretaries, which includes close associates of ODM leader Raila Odinga.
