Lenny Kisaka, the Coordinator of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in the Upper Eastern region, has verified that investigators were stationed at Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza’s residence on Saturday as part of the continuing inquiry into the killing of Daniel Muthiani, also known as sniper, a blogger from Meru.

During the media briefing amid the operation, Kisaka mentioned that the police investigations had progressed significantly as they reconstructed the events leading to the untimely demise of the blogger.

The head of DCI mentioned that officers from the homicide division stationed at the agency’s main office in Nairobi took part in the operation as well.

Kisaka clarified that the operation on Saturday intended to search the house for any information that could assist the police in their inquiries.

“We’re investigating the murder of sniper. We have been to several scenes. We have brought on board a forensic team led by the Director of homicide from the DCI headquarters.

“The house of the governor is one of the many places we are visiting in the process of collecting what is relevant to the matter we are investigating,” he stated.

“We want to tell the public that the investigations are at a very advanced stage and in case there is anything, we will rely on the media to convey the message to the public.

“Investigations are very focused on the evidence that will lead us to the court of law,” the DCI boss added.

Kisaka stated that they have inspected several locations, including the governor’s residence, as part of their investigations. The DCI plans to conduct visits to additional sites across the county in the upcoming days.

At the time of his address, police were yet to complete their operation at the governor’s home. It is also yet to be known whether police took any items from the home during the process.
