Kioni’s Swift Reaction: Uhuru’s Jubilee Exit Rumors!

Jeremiah Kioni, the embattled secretary-general of the Jubilee Party, revealed intricate plans for former president Uhuru Kenyatta to select another political party amid leadership disputes within the Jubilee Party.

Kioni told GossipA2Z that Uhuru had multiple options, including using the Party of National Unity (PNU) as an alternative political vehicle should pro-government politicians be successful in seizing control of his party.

He expressed confidence that the former president would maintain his support and effectively counter President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) tide on Mount Kenya.

“Uhuru requires no political party. When he ran for president, he required one, and that was Jubilee. It is reasonable for him to transfer the party over to individuals who share the same vision.

“If the current government decides to seize control, the only option for the community is to leave.”

“As the Secretary-General, I can state that the notion that if they take the Jubilee party, they will also take Mount Kenya is false. We have the option of any other party, including the PNU,” Kioni stated.

In light of the recent turn of events, analysts think that the President is preparing for any eventuality by appointing confidants to key leadership positions at PNU.

On Friday, July 28, it was announced that former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya would be the new leader of the PNU.

Former Education Chief Administrative Secretary Zachariah Kinuthia was designated the national organizing secretary as part of the radical changes. John Okemwa maintained his position as Secretary-General of the party formerly commanded by Mwai Kibaki, Kenya’s third president.

Political analysts saw Uhuru’s hand in the move, speculating that it was one of his most recent strategies to remain influential and relevant on the political scene.

According to governance expert Martin Oloo, the former head of state’s defection to PNU would be a significant and game-changing development.

“Kenya Kwanza sympathizers have commandeered Jubilee-related political issues. Uhuru must maintain his political relevance and seek out a stable party.

He repeated, “He faces a significant political challenge, and unless he takes steps to organize himself politically, he risks defeat or marginalization.”

Barrack Muluka, a political analyst and strategic communications advisor argued that Uhuru’s influence in the Mt Kenya region had waned due to the concerted efforts of economic oligarchs and former senior leaders of the region.

“Uhuru’s influence is depleted because he was not standing on his own, but rather on the influence of others. The majority of these individuals are either deceased or have reached old age. During his tenure, Uhuru was supposed to be the propelling force, but he failed to develop his capabilities,” he disclosed.

Due to his lifestyle, he lost his influence. The other disadvantage was that Ruto arrived with enormous numbers. He should make deliberate efforts to address lifestyle issues, and when he addresses the public, he should present himself as a persuasive thought leader. Muluka, a former secretary general of the Amani National Congress (ANC), opined that he should not appear as a person who is furious and leads a dissolute lifestyle.

Uhuru’s Next Step

Muluka argued that Uhuru should withdraw from the competitive political scene and instead position himself as a political “godfather” who advises and guides prodigies.

On the other hand, he advised Kioni and Munya to return to the drafting board and determine how to wrest Mount Kenya from Ruto and his lieutenant Rigathi Gachagua.

“During the 2022 elections, they were purged, so even if they unite, their efforts will fail. “They must change the social dynamics on the ground by appealing to the populace for the people to abandon the UDA and join them,” he noted.
