Kindiki Recalls All Cops On Leave for Holiday Season Security

In anticipation of the holiday season, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has recalled all personnel on leave and canceled all annual breaks.

Kindiki stated in a parliamentary appearance on Wednesday that the National Police Service (NPS) will require maximum manpower to identify potential threats and ensure that the nation is adequately staffed before the celebrations.

Moreover, he stated that increased vigilance is necessary during the holiday season, which is the primary rationale for the directive.

“For us in the security sector, this is our busiest season, as everybody retreats for holiday, we have mobilized ourselves. All those officers on leave will forfeit their leaves and we will be on duty and alert,” he noted.

“We have already mapped out the country so that we can spot the potential sources of threat so that we can neutralize them before they succeed.”

“I want to assure the public that we will go out of our way to remain alert and prepare ourselves across the country, noting that the festive season requires extra vigilance. We are prepared and we pray that the season will be incident-free.”

Kindiki appeared before members of parliament to respond to inquiries concerning the nationwide security situation.

A proviso was expressed by him during the session, predicating his inability to provide exhaustive responses to specific issues on the sensitive nature of the information at hand.

“Let me give you the information that best answers the question that has been raised. But at the same time, be careful that the terrorists watch parliamentary proceedings and they watch statements made by the Ministry as a way to gauge what we will do next,” the CS added.

In addition, the members of parliament asked the CS to reconsider the government’s stance regarding the lack of compensation for demolition victims.

Kindiki responded by stating that the government would devise a strategy to provide comfort to the victims.
