Kenyans Demand Karen Nyamu’s Arrest After CS Murkomen Goes After Youth Hanging Outside Mercedes Benz

Kenyans on X have urged the Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport, Kipchumba Murkomen, to take legal action against Senator Karen Nyamu for her traffic offenses.

The public has accused Kipchumba of selective enforcement.

Murkomen’s warning to rowdy youth hanging on car

This criticism follows his pursuit of two individuals who were filmed dangerously dangling from a speeding Mercedes Benz on Mombasa Road.

Kipchumba posted a video showing the vehicle cruising down the busy highway with two individuals precariously hanging from the rear windows.

He addressed the car owner, James Gathogo Njeri, in a public post, expressing concern and vowing to take necessary action after being notified by a vigilant citizen.

“James Gathogo Njeri, this is how your white Mercedes-Benz KCX 959B class E-250 was being driven on Mombasa Road in one of those โ€œwhere is the Ministerโ€ moments. We are concerned, and a responsible citizen has alerted us. We shall do what we must,” Murkomen wrote.

    Is Murkomen biased?

Subsequently, several social media users confronted Kipchumba with an older video of Nyamu herself flouting traffic regulations, driving on the wrong side of the road without remorse.

A social media user commented, criticizing Kipchumbaโ€™s silence on Nyamuโ€™s infraction and the daily violations by government officials:

“When Karen Nyamu broke traffic rules, you never tweeted; when government officials break traffic rules every day on the wrong side, you never tweet, now ordinary guy does this, you are awake and ready to act. I posted this video yeah, I don’t care, but you are a snake.”

    Gabriel Oguda wrote:

“@kipmurkomen, Kenya has only one constitution. Either you’re punishing Karen Nyamu too, or you’re pardoning both of them. Here is the evidence for your action. Let us know if you need more of these, we’re at your service.”

    Omwamba wrote:

“Karen Nyamu in the mud! Kenyans on Twitter want Kipchumba Murkomen to take Action on Karen Nyamu first or else.”

    Kimuzi reacted to Kipchumba’s post:

“Grow up. Karen Nyamu did worse. What a loser.”

    Allan Obare:

“If transport CS Murkomen wants to apply the law to Mr. James Gathogo Njeri, we are also demanding that Karen Nyamu also be charged. We can’t have a country where the laws are not applied to a selected group of people. We are all Kenyans.”

Murkomen explains the causes of increased boda boda accidents

Previously, the CS blamed the recent increase in accidents on boda boda riders in the country.

Murkomen argued the need to straighten the sector to reduce accidents in the country.

He faulted the passengers using boda boda for not following traffic rules, including wearing helmets by both the rider and the passenger.
