Kenyan Police Officers in Haiti Make Significant Strides in Combating Gang Violence
On Saturday, the government highlighted progress made by Kenyan Police officers in Haiti to curb gang violence in the Caribbean nation.
The National Police Service (NPS) stated that officers had successfully recovered several key infrastructures from gang control. The Kenyan contingent, part of the Multinational Security Support (MSS) Mission, recaptured the Auorite Portuaire Nationale (APN) port from gang dominance.
The MSS team, consisting of National Police Service Officers and Haiti Police, has continued to achieve success in combating gang activities and restoring security in Haiti, according to the NPS statement.
The officers also made notable progress in clearing road blockades that were set up along the roads leading to the gang-infested town of Ganthier.
This achievement follows a visit from the United States ambassador to the United Nations, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, who met with the peacekeepers and held discussions with them.
