Kenyan Businessman Robbed Ksh 4.9M At Gunpoint By Ugandan Police
The Ugandan Police Force on Monday fired 4 officers for defrauding a Kenyan investor of Ksh4.9 million (USD 30,000).
According to Police Spokesperson, Fred Enanga, the 4 had tarnished the name of the police act through their actions.
The suspects were reportedly working with a man posing as a forex exchange broker to con the investor of his money.
In the incident that occurred on January 17, the investor was said to be staying at a local hotel when he sought help to exchange his currency.
The businessman wanted the money to purchase a lorry in Uganda when the incident occurred.
He was then introduced to a man posing as a forex exchange broker who was working in cahoots with the police.

The suspects convinced the man to board a motorcycle to head to an unknown location to complete the transaction. However, they led him to another hotel robbed him, and fled.
With the help of a well-wisher, the man managed to record a statement at a police station, after which investigations commenced immediately.
Following thorough investigations, the officers were arrested by the police and detained at the Kabalagala Police Station.
Police also searched the suspects’ houses and recovered some money in dollar denominations which has since been seized as evidence.
Additionally, the Ugandan Police Service has called upon the public to come forward with information that will lead to the arrest of the fake forex broker.
The suspects were arraigned at the police disciplinary court and will be charged with aggravated robbery.
