Kenya Kwanza MPs Issue Stark Warning to Ruto: ‘Ukigawa Mamlaka Utajipanga!’ Amid Raila Talks

A portion of Kenya Kwanza leaders have rejected the possibility of a handshake between President William Ruto and Azimio Leader Raila Odinga.

In Nandi County, legislators aligned with President Ruto warned the Executive branch against engaging in any form of power-sharing as a means of resolving anti-government demonstrations in the country.

The lawmakers, led by Timothy Kipchumba of Marakwet West, Clement Sloya of Sabatia, and Geoffrey Wandeto of Tetu, have urged the president not to engage in any dialogue with opposition leader Raila Odinga.

The leaders who spoke while attending a career fair day in the Nandi Hills Constituency stated that a salutation between the two leaders would undermine the implementation of the Kenya Kwanza Manifesto and was therefore unnecessary.

“Handshake hatutakubali; na tunaambia Rais ukigawana, sisi, utajipanga mwana Rais! Kipchumba stated, “We are telling our president that we do not want a handshake with the opposition.”

Sloya added, “We condemn Maandamano and want the leaders to talk.” However, we will not encourage our president to engage in power-sharing discussions with the Opposition. Ongea na hawa watu watulie na kazi yetu ya kuendeleza Kenya.”

In addition, the leaders accused the Azimio chief of sabotaging the government for his egotistical purposes.

“We know what Raila Odinga wants…he does not want Kenyans to have cheap unga, he wants to be called on the table apewe nusu mkate,” Wandeto stated.

He wishes to enter the government through a back entrance.

Despite public and opposition outrage, the leaders praised the Court of Appeal for withdrawing the order suspending the implementation of the Finance Act 2023.

“Nchi itaendelea hakuna bila ushuru…Taxes must be collected. “I would like to thank the court of appeal for transcending the politics of deceit by reversing the High Court’s decision and lifting the suspension on the Finance Bill,” Kipchumba said.
