Karen Nyamu’s Shocking Response to Finance Bill 2024 Leaves All Stunned!

Senator Karen Nyamu’s endeavor to elucidate the provisions of the Finance Bill 2024 resulted in baffling reporters, as she grappled to articulate her comprehension of the Bill clearly.

When questioned about her stance on the contentious Bill, Nyamu initially seemed hesitant, then proceeded to offer a disjointed defense of the Bill and President William Ruto’s tax recommendations.

“First of all, Finance Bill inafanyiwa National Assembly, not in the Senate. But what I know about the Kenya Kwanza administration, what we promised people on the ground is that the economy itakuwa bottom up,” she said.

Nyamu proceeded to assert her interpretation of the Bill’s purported benefits, suggesting that the government was imposing taxes on wealthier Kenyans while alleviating the ordinary citizen.

“Unaweza kuwa unalia Ruto anatutax sana, na saa hiyo ametoa tax ya wale watu wako chini ameongeza ya wale watu wana import vitanda,” she said.

“Unazusha nini na ni kitu hata haikuhusu? Find out what does this Finance Bill say, kuna tax imeongezwa, inakuhusu?”

Nyamu further added to the confusion by implying that the assertions made in the Bill were fabricated by the opposing party and may not be grounded in reality.

“Wachana na social media. We have opposition politics na lazima wakae wakipinga serikali. Ikuwe wana make sense, wanapiga propaganda, lazima wapige serikali. Na sisi tunawaskiza,” she claimed.

When Nyamu’s video began to attract attention on X, many Kenyans criticized her for seeming uninformed about such a significant national issue.

X influencer Omwamba kicked off the condemnation, saying, “UDA Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu amechoma. Yaani Karen Njeri Nyamu doesn’t know what is in the Finance Bill. I can’t believe Karen Nyamu is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya!”

Another user said, “The moment she looked right, left then right again (as if crossing the road) after the question was asked, I knew she had zero content!”

On his part, user Jared Ongae said, “This speaks volumes of the kind of leaders we have! And she is not the only one. The majority of those leaders only know what they hear on social media that’s why you hear them say uncouth logic and you wonder how they go into those offices.”

Esther Wamae, equally unimpressed, questioned how Kenyan leadership had suddenly reached such depths.

“How did she get to where she is? What criteria were used? What’s the use of having a law degree if you’re this clueless on matters of governance? How did we fumble this bad? From the likes of Martha Karua to now this!” she lamented.

The Finance Bill for 2024 was released on May 9 and is currently in the phase of public engagement.

Within this Bill are tax suggestions aimed at generating income for the Kenya Kwanza administration to support its expansive initiatives.

Among these proposals is the implementation of a Motor Vehicle Tax, set at 2.5 percent of the vehicle’s worth.
