Junet Mohamed Hints at More ODM Appointments to Government Roles
Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has hinted at the possibility of more ODM members being nominated and appointed to high-ranking government roles.
His remarks come as discussions continue about the party’s involvement in opposition politics and the strategy to support senior members in obtaining significant government positions.
“Some of our members have joined the government, and more will follow,” stated Junet Mohamed.
However, he assured the public that MPs remain dedicated to ODM.
“As MPs, we are committed to ODM and will act by the people’s wishes,” he emphasized.
As a close ally of Raila Odinga, Junet also highlighted that accountability is a top priority for ODM, even those who have transitioned into government.
“If those who have joined the government fail to meet the people’s expectations, we will hold them accountable. We remain committed to ODM,” he asserted.
Reflecting on the party’s internal structure and leadership, Junet praised Raila Odinga’s pivotal role in the political landscape.

“Lesuuda mentioned three branches of government: legislature, executive, and judiciary, but Raila Odinga is another vital entity. He is independent and stands with the people. You can’t act without consulting Raila Odinga,” he remarked.
Despite some members moving towards government roles, Junet was clear about the continuity and strength of ODM.
“We will continue with our ODM party, led by Raila Odinga. We do not have the means to remove Raila Odinga from the party,” he affirmed.
Addressing concerns about the party’s future, Junet dismissed the idea that ODM’s engagement with the government weakens its political influence in Kenya.
“Those who want to work with the government are free to do so, but others will remain key political players,” he clarified.
He also refuted claims of ODM’s decline, proudly stating, “There is no other party as large as ODM, which has existed for over 20 years.”
His comments came shortly after President William Ruto nominated opposition leaders to Cabinet positions, including former Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho, Wycliffe Oparanya, Opiyo Wandayi, and John Mbadi.
