Family Alleges Police Cover-up in Jeff Mwathi Murder: Claims DJ Faxto’s House as Crime Scene

The family of deceased interior designer Jeff Mwathi is dissatisfied with how security agencies have investigated their relative’s death.

Anne Mwathi, Jeff’s mother, told the media at the family home in Njoro, Nakuru County, that she has no hope that Directorate Criminal Investigations (DCI) investigations will be fruitful.

Ms. Mwathi, while insisting that her son was murdered, questioned why no one has been arrested about Jeff’s death.

“I believe my son was murdered at the home of DJ Fatso. He did not commit suicide, Ms. Mwathi stated.

She added, “Why should the DCI put me through all this, including exhuming my son’s body, with no arrests?”

After Jeff’s body was exhumed, his mother pointed out that the family has not received the post-mortem report.

“We do not anticipate that the report presented to the DCI will produce results. We have not yet received the autopsy report, so we know nothing,” she said.

According to Jeff’s grandmother Teresia Mwathi, the family is bitter because Kenya is an unjust country for the poor.

“Tumeudhika na tunaona Kenya haina justice kwa wanyonge… Tunaona Kenyans tuko mara mbili, wanyonge na wenye pesa,” she said.

Teresia Mwathi continued by asserting that there was a cover-up in the investigation procedure.

“Tunaskia kuna rumors kuna watu wakubwa wanashikilia huyo DJ. Mtu amepewa pesa kucover up. “Tumeachia Mungu,” the grandmother stated.

Detectives specializing in homicide revealed last month that based on their investigation, the 23-year-old interior designer was murdered and did not commit suicide by jumping, as had been previously reported.

After scene reconstruction and forensic analysis, DCI investigators concluded that there were clear indications of a struggle inside the home of Mugithi musician Lawrence Njuguna aka DJ Fatxo.

Since then, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has forwarded the Jeff Mwathi death investigation file to the DPP’s office for further action.
