Epsom College Tragedy: Headmistress, Family Found Dead on School Grounds

The bodies of the headmistress of the prestigious Epsom College, her daughter, and her husband were discovered on school grounds.

At 1 a.m. yesterday, police were called to the £42,000-a-year private school in Surrey.

Emma Pattison, 45, her daughter Lettie, 7, and her husband George, 39, were discovered dead.

Police believe this is a one-time occurrence with no third-party involvement.

Headmistress Emma has been referred to as a “wonderful teacher” and a “delightful” individual.

Her most recent social media post celebrated a prestigious award won by the school shortly after she took over.

The “traumatic” loss has left the Epsom College community in shock.

“On behalf of Surrey Police, my team, and I, I first want to express my heartfelt condolences to the friends and family of Emma, Lettie, and George, as well as the students and staff of Epsom College, for their tragic loss,” Detective Chief Inspector Kimball Edey said yesterday.

“I want to give my assurance that we will conduct a thorough investigation into what took place last night, and hope to be able to bring some peace in these traumatic circumstances. I would like to request that their privacy be respected during this difficult time.”

HORROR IN SCHOOL

“We’re aware that this tragic incident will have caused concern and upset in the local community,” said Inspector Jon Vale, Borough Commander for Epsom and Ewell.

“While this is believed to be an isolated incident, in the coming days, our local officers will remain in the area to offer reassurance to students, parents, teachers, and the local community.

“I’d like to thank the school and the community for their patience and understanding while the investigation is ongoing.”

“On behalf of everyone at Epsom College, I want to express our utter shock and disbelief at this tragic news,” wrote Dr. Alastair Wells, Chair of the Board of Governors at Epsom College.

“Our immediate thoughts and condolences are with Emma’s family, friends, and loved ones, and to the many pupils and colleagues whose lives she enriched throughout her distinguished career.

“Emma was a wonderful teacher, but most importantly, she was a delightful person.”

“In time we will commemorate Emma and her family, in the appropriate way, and line with the wishes of her family. But, for the time being, we ask that we all be given the time, space, and respect we require to come to terms with this tragic loss.”

The headmistress informed students in December that the family had purchased a Labrador named Bella to live with them on the school grounds.

“In terms of transition, it’s been a really big change for my family,” she told the school’s podcast. We’ve moved and purchased a dog.

“I’ve started a new job, my husband started a new job, which wasn’t planned, but it happened, and my daughter started a new school, so there’s been a lot of change for us as a family.”
