DP Gachagua’s Ksh4.8B Budget: Karen Mansion and More in the Works
The National Treasury has earmarked Ksh2.2 trillion in the new proposed budget to pursue initiatives under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), contingent on the implementation of the new budget.
In the 2024/25 Programme Budget, the National Treasury has allocated Ksh4.876 billion for the Office of the Deputy President to ensure effective service delivery.
This is an increase of Ksh59 million compared to the budget for the 2023/24 financial year.
The funds will be allocated across four main programs within the Deputy President’s Office: General Administration and Support Services, Coordination and Supervision, Office of the Spouse of the Deputy President, and Government Strategic Priorities and Interventions.
Administrative services encompass supporting the engagements of the Deputy President and spouse, enhancing office coordination, maintaining the Deputy President’s official residence in Karen, Nairobi, and refurbishing and maintaining the Harambee House Annex.

For coordination and supervision, the aim is to prepare four progress reports annually to inform the public on the government’s strategy implementation and hold two consultative forums on International Development Partnerships Coordination projects.
The budget covers all engagements of the Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua, and Pastor Dorcas Rigathi. It will also monitor and report on donor-funded projects across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.
The National Treasury requires 44 progress reports each financial year.
The Office of the Spouse of the Deputy President focuses on improving the situation of boys in society. A portion of the Ksh4 billion will be used to identify and screen 12,000 boys for drug and substance abuse, facilitate 18 camps in different counties, train 2,400 boys, 1,000 widows, and 40 widows’ groups, and conduct ten sensitization activities.
Additional projects include coordinating Intergovernmental Budget and Economic Council (IBEC) services to support coordination between national and county governments.
