DCI Interrogates Pastor Ezekiel of New Life Church
On Tuesday, April 25, police officers investigating the mysterious deaths associated with cult worship at the Coast questioned televangelist Pastor Ezekiel Odero about his doctrine and church operations.
Tuesday, April 25th, according to credible sources at the Ministry of the Interior, Pastor Ezekiel recorded a statement with the Kilifi DCI.
“Today, Pastor Ezekiel Odero of New Life Prayer Centre and Church stated to police regarding allegations of indoctrination of believers. According to a source who spoke on condition of anonymity, he recorded his statement with the police.
In addition, police visited the Milele Funeral Home in Mavueni, Kilifi County, a morgue close to Pastor Ezekiel’s church, and questioned the management about crucial issues about alleged cultic operations on the Coast.
Johnson Amani Kea, CEO of Milele Funeral Home, told GossipA2Z that they responded to police inquiries regarding the number of deceased bodies collected from Pastor Ezekiel’s church. He also clarified that, contrary to rumors, the funeral home did not file a police report, but rather assisted the police in their investigations.
“We did not file a complaint. The police are currently recording statements regarding the number of bodies recovered from Pastor Ezekiel’s church.
“By the law, we have given our statements to the police. Pastor Ezekiel is not the subject of a formal complaint. Amani Kea told GossipA2Z in an exclusive interview that police are only conducting investigations.
The security agencies were handling the situation, so he could not comment further. However, he indicated that the police officers who interrogated the management of Milele Funeral Home were from the DCI Kilifi headquarters and not the Malindi Police Station.
GossipA2Z Attempts to Contact Pastor Ezekiel
GossipA2Z was unsuccessful in getting Pastor Ezekiel to comment on the matter. Calls to contacts listed on his church’s social media pages went unanswered, and text messages were unanswered at the time of article publication.
In previous videos, Pastor Ezekiel had criticized Milele Funeral Home, accusing it of being located near a crime hotspot along the Mombasa-Malindi Road.
“At Mbogolo slope on the way to Mombasa, on the right, there is a sign for Milele Funeral home. There is no hospital, dispensary, or clinic; only a funeral home is present. In a televised sermon, Ezekiel referred to the region as a “black spot” and accused it of profiting from massacres. He stated that he prayed about the matter, and the morgue was closed.
However, the CEO, Johnson Amani Kea, clarified that the morgue was still operational. And that the building housing the morgue also housed other community-beneficial businesses.
Such information is deceptive to the public. Amani Kea told Coast-based Chadi TV in April 2023, “We are a legal business and operate under the law just like everyone else.”
Kithure Kindiki is in Reply
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki confirmed on April 25 that police were investigating other flamboyant preachers. Whose teachings appeared to contradict what the Law advocates.
“We have launched an investigation into a second preacher based in Kilifi. And we are gathering crucial information that will soon enable us to draw logical conclusions.
Kindiki assured, “Any religion that kills people or engages in criminal activity in the name of religion must be stopped. And now is the time to stop these frauds.”
Pastor Ezekiel Odero’s life and doctrines were investigated against the backdrop of the Shakahola massacre. In which more than 90 bodies were exhumed and more than 30 people were rescued while starving to death.
Controversial Pastor Paul Mackenzie was arrested. And Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji recommended the following charges. Terrorism, genocide, radicalization, and assisting individuals to commit suicide.
“We have expanded our search to include another religious organization in Kilifi.” “We have opened a formal investigation into this religious group. And we are receiving crucial leads suggesting that Mackenzie’s actions may only be the tip of the iceberg,” Kindiki disclosed.
The alleged use of the Bible to kill and cause a massacre was a violation of fundamental freedom rights. After visiting Shakahola farm on April 25, CS Kindiki stated, “Those who urged others to fast and die were eating and drinking while claiming to be preparing them to meet their creator.”
