According to reports, the detective shot himself in the head while he was locked in his vehicle in the parking lot of the complex.

His colleagues heard the gunshot and when they rushed to investigate, they discovered his lifeless body lying on the car seat. His body has been transported to a morgue for an autopsy.

The incident occurred less than a week after another Special Operations Bureau (SOB) officer committed suicide by shooting himself in the jaw.

As reported by PoliticalPulseChat on Friday, the officer shot himself moments after shooting a neighbor who had intervened to assist.

A police report at the time indicated that the officer serving in Kayole had threatened to shoot himself in the head with a colleague who is a police superintendent at the station.

The commander rushed to the site, where he was informed by nearby residents that the officer had been transported to the hospital. At the time of his arrival at Komarock Modern Hospital, he was pronounced deceased.

Suicides within the police force are on the rise, and in January, Second Lady Pastor Dorcas Rigathi joined forces with the National Police Service to aid struggling officers and their families.

The NPS stated in a statement that the partnership will focus on mental health, officer rehabilitation, and widow and dependent care.

The office of Dorcas will also provide police with chaplaincy services.
