Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi, alongside his mining counterpart Hassan Joho, announced new appointments to their respective dockets on Saturday.

In a gazette notice dated October 4, Hassan Joho named Jawahira Hussein Haji and David Pkeu Kapelishwa as members of the National Mining Corporation.

Joho confirmed that these two appointees would serve in their new roles for three years, starting from October 4, 2024.

Additionally, Joho appointed Micah Ekusi Lore and Stephen Longoida Labarakwe as members of the Board of the Kenya Fisheries Service, also for three years beginning October 4.

In a similar move, Treasury CS John Mbadi appointed Muchiri Ngatia to the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA).

According to Mbadi, Ngatia’s term will also span three years starting from October 4, 2024. KIPPRA’s role is to offer quality policy advice to the government through research and analysis, contributing to national long-term development goals.

These appointments were part of a gazette notice that also included multiple appointments to state boards by President William Ruto. The President named retired ACK Bishop Joseph Kagunda as the head of the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya for three years.

Ruto further appointed former Machakos Town MP Victor Kioko Munyaka as the Chairperson of the Kenya Animal Genetic Resource Centre, and former Eldoret East MP Joseph Kipchumba Lagat as Chairperson of the National Mining Corporation—both for three-year terms.
