CS Kuria to Open Call Centre Where Kenyans Can Report Govt Officers

Moses Kuria, Cabinet Secretary for the Public Service, has announced plans to establish a call center to manage Kenyans’ complaints regarding the service delivery of government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

Kuria stated during the unveiling of the NYS Re-engineering program at the NYS headquarters in Ruaraka, Nairobi County, that the contact center was part of his strategy to ensure that MDAs fulfill their mandate.

The CS indicated that motorists will be able to use the contact center to report police officers who accept bribes on the roads.

Kuria revealed further that the center will also assist Kenyans with Kenya Power electricity connection complaints.

According to Kuria, the contact center will be located at the New York State headquarters and staffed by officers from the paramilitary unit.

However, he did not specify the precise opening date of the call center.

“I am going to have a big office and call center to analyze those complaints and it will be here at NYS. I will come here every morning to see where there are complaints. The servicemen will monitor it,” he stated.

“I am going to give Kenyans a chance to say what they think of us.”

During the event, Kuria disclosed that in his new capacity as Public Service Cabinet Secretary, he would work to improve the service delivery efficiency of New York State.

The CS disclosed that he would introduce a Cabinet proposal mandating NYS training for all government positions.

This, he said, would include the recruitment of all disciplined forces, such as the National Police Service (NYS) and Kenya Defense Forces (KDF), among others.

Kuria explained that the initiative would enhance the public service work ethic and provide opportunities for the millions of unemployed youth.

“We have agreed with the Inspector General of Police that the next intake of 3,000 officers will be recruited from NYS. We have also talked with Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) and 1,500 recruits will be from NYS,” he stated.
