CS Kindiki Assigns KDF New Role and Allocates Ksh100 Million

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki ordered the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF). To supervise the reconstruction of schools in Baringo County that was destroyed by bandits on Thursday, May 18.

Facilitating their operation, the government released 100 million shillings. To repair schools in the county that had been damaged by bandits.

Kindiki spoke at the commencement ceremony for 200 newly-trained National Police Reservists (NPR) at Kimalel grounds, Baringo County.

In the second phase, another Ksh100 million will be allocated to the officers. To complete the reconstruction of the schools, according to the Interior CS.

“An initial allocation of Ksh100 million has been made to repair all schools damaged by bandits.

“Officers of the KDF will oversee the reconstruction. In the second phase, an additional Ksh100 million will be allocated to complete the reconstruction, according to the CS’s statement.

Kindiki added that the multi-agency team had performed admirably in combating bandits in the region. And advised local administrators and security officers to respond swiftly to incidents of insecurity.

“We have made significant progress in eliminating bandit hideouts and removing bandits from their hiding places, but we must ensure they do not return,” he said.

In addition, Kindiki urged the multi-agency team, which included KDF, to ensure that the area remains off-limits to bandits.

Additionally, he disclosed that the government, through the Ministry of Education, intended to hire more teachers in the county.

“The government will also recruit and assign an additional 100 teachers, 50 for Baringo South and 50 for Baringo North, to ensure that learning continues uninterrupted in the reopened schools,” he said.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting NPR officers. And added that as of July 1, 2023, all NPR officers will have comprehensive NHIF coverage.

“The design for the NPR uniform is nearly complete, and the government will outfit all NPR officers, including their footwear, so they can perform their duties,” he explained.
