Cabinet Secretary Kindiki Redeploys 204 Deputy County Commissioners

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki redeployed 204 Deputy County Commissioners (DCCs) on Friday, June 23.

According to the Ministry of the Interior, the changes were to take effect immediately, with the commissioners required to report to their new stations beginning on Monday, June 26.

The reshuffle was anticipated to aid the government of President William Ruto in strengthening the country’s security sector.

The government has transferred/deployed twenty-four (204) deputy county commissioners across the country, Kindiki informed the public.

Moranga Morekwa was transferred from Mbita to Mathira East, and Joseph Kimutai was transferred from Mathira East to Etago, among other significant changes.

Harun Kamau moved from Etago to Khwisero. Jackson Omondi moved from Khwisero to PA/County Commissioner Murang’a, and Paul Waweru. Moved from PA/County Commissioner Murang’a to Kiminini in Bungoma.

Dolphin Wanzala moved from Kiminini to Marakwet East. Ahmed Somo moved from Marakwet East to Narok Central, Kennedy Mwangome moved from Narok Central to Embakasi. And Abraham Kemboi moved from Embakasi to Luanda.

Geoffrey Tanui, who was transferred to Loitktok, Ahmed Mohamud (Narok East), Lilian Jerop (Kesses), Rebecca Muturi (Mbeere North), Gideon Ombongi (Turkana South), and Hillary Koech (Habassasin) were also relocated from the headquarters.

Kindiki also moved Abaraham Laikera to Laikipia West, Stanley Mutua (Konoin), Anneta Mwangi (Tseikuru) and Titus Murei (Mandera North).

Several DCCs were recalled from their various posts to the ministry’s headquarters, including Abdihakim Jubat (Trans-Mara South), Angela Makau (Ithanga), and Evans Wendot (assistant to the Nairobi regional commissioner).

Deputy County Commissioners’ Responsibility

Deputy County Commissioners (DCCs) direct county and sub-county government affairs and policies.

They are responsible for ensuring that government policies are effectively implemented and that citizens’ needs are met.

Other responsibilities include assisting the police in maintaining law and order by promoting peace and security, as well as identifying and implementing development projects in collaboration with the appropriate authorities.
