Brotherly Business: Pastor Ezekiel’s Sibling Takes Charge of New Life Church’s Kisii Branch

In what appears to be a family business in evangelism. The younger brother of controversial preacher Ezekiel Odero of the New Life Church and Prayer Centre. Is running a branch of the church in Kisii County.

Mr. Gillack Odero, the fourth-born in the Odero family. Is the senior pastor of the New Life Church, which is experiencing exponential growth in Bonchari Constituency. With members from the neighboring counties of Homa Bay and Migori flocking to its Sunday services.

Pastor Ezekiel, the founder of the New Life Church and Prayer Centre in Kilifi County. Is involved in a legal dispute stemming from the church’s activities.

This follows the arrest of Pastor Paul Mackenzie of the Good News International church. Also in Kilifi County, for urging his followers to fast to death to meet Jesus.

240 bodies have been exhumed from Mackenzie’s vast land in Shakahola village. While dozens of his fasting followers have been rescued alive from the forest surrounding his home.

Pastor Ezekiel was arrested in connection with the deaths of dozens of members of his megachurch. Which attracts tens of thousands of people from across the country.

Also under investigation are his connections to Mackenzie.
The Kisii church was founded a year and a half ago in Itibo-Rianyabaro, close to Suneka town.

The church, constructed of iron sheets and wood, sits on a 40-by-60-meter plot of land and can accommodate hundreds of worshippers.

Security

Upon spotting a visitor, the church’s eagle-eyed security guards immediately approach to inquire how they can assist.

Inside the church, there are numerous plastic chairs and a modern sound system that is so powerful that the sermon is audible throughout the neighborhood.

When the GossipA2Z team visited Pastor Gillack’s church on Sunday, he said, “We serve the living God, and for bringing us this far, we give Him glory and honor.”

According to Pastor Gillack, the church in Kisii is a branch of the New Life Church in Mavueni, Kilifi County, where Pastor Ezekiel preaches.

At the entrance is a banner with portraits of the two preaching brothers and the order of worship.

Gillack wears a white robe and carries a large black Bible from which he reads the Scriptures, similar to Pastor Ezekiel.

When we visited the church on a Sunday, Gillack greeted us warmly and informed us that the New Life Church in Rianyabaro would soon be relocating to a larger location.

He implied that they will construct a larger church, which will surprise many. He compared the new church to the biblical temple that Jesus promised to demolish and rebuild in three days.

In what appeared to be a dig at the government for the hardships his older brother is experiencing, Pastor Gillack pondered what people will say when he builds the larger church in Kisii.

What will they declare? As you can see, we have nothing to hide, and I have welcomed you into my church. We serve the true God, who is not the violent God. “He has brought my brother and me to this point,” stated Pastor Gillack.

Shortly after we followed him out of his office and as he began his sermon, Pastor Gillack announced our presence to the congregation from the altar.

“We are fortunate to have guests from Nation Media Group. They have arrived to observe our activities. “We have nothing to hide, and we are very good people,” the eloquent pastor declared as his congregation erupted in resounding applause.

Heavenly Father

Pastor Gillack views his brother not only as a sibling but also as his spiritual father, who he describes as having been extremely supportive throughout his upbringing.

He denied his brother’s assistance in establishing the Rianyabaro church.

Pastor Gillack stated that he had worked tirelessly on his own to achieve success.

“When I told my brother Ezekiel that I was going to Kisii to establish my New Life Church, he was ecstatic. He blessed me, and I came here to begin from scratch. We do everything because God loves us. I do some farming. And a few individuals who are moved by our preaching support us online,” he added.

Pastor Gillack compared his brother’s tribulations to those Jesus endured during his time on earth while commenting on his brother’s predicament.

However, he was optimistic that they would prevail.
He also disclosed that he had been affected by the court’s decision to freeze the New Life Church’s bank accounts, explaining that he was also a signatory on the accounts.

Investigators looking into the activities of the Kilifi church. Requested the court freeze its accounts, and the court granted the request for 15 days. On Monday, the order expired, allowing the church access to its accounts.

“My brother and I have traveled a great distance and have witnessed His hand. Pastor Gillack said, “Only those who have witnessed what we have endured to get where we are can comprehend what I am saying.”
