Azimio Appoints Former AG Amos Wako to Head its Presidential Results Audit Team
The Azimio La Umoja coalition has appointed former Attorney General Amos Wako to head a three-member team tasked with representing them in the audit of the 2022 presidential election.
The remaining pair consists of ex-nominated senator Judith Pareno and forensic investigator Julius Njiriani.
The meeting occurs a mere three days following the presentation of the report by the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) to both President William Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga.
On Monday, March 11, the Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi presented the names to National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula.
“I have today written to the Speaker conveying the names of the three persons who will be our members in the panel,” Wandayi said.
“These three persons will be led by Hon. Wako; they will join their three counterparts from the Kenya Kwanza side.”
The names of the nominees to the Panel from President William Ruto’s coalition, Kenya Kwanza, have not been disclosed to the public yet.
The NADCO report suggested creating a panel of experienced professionals to thoroughly examine the electoral procedures of 2022. This initiative not only seeks to assess previous elections but also sets the foundation for a strong mechanism to evaluate future electoral processes.

The panel must be installed within 21 days following the approval of the NADCO report.
In February, the National Assembly approved the conclusions of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO). Kimani Ichung’wah, who serves as the Leader of the Majority Party and Co-Chairperson of NADCO, initially presented this report to the House on December 7, 2023.
Nine bills have already been presented in Parliament to support the execution of the report.
The previous week, Raila Odinga, head of the Azimio Coalition, expressed apprehension about potential challenges coming from both within and outside Parliament. These concerns were related to efforts to impede the advancement of the National Dialogue Committee report.
Yet, the Azimio Summit, the coalition’s governing entity, released a strong statement, asserting that individuals associated with Kenya Kwanza, both within and outside Parliament, are actively engaged in efforts to compromise the integrity of the report.
“We caution those involved that any attempts to subvert or manipulate the report will not go unnoticed,” the statement reads. “There will be severe consequences for any such actions.”
The coalition firmly emphasizes the crucial need to protect the integrity of the National Dialogue Committee’s conclusions, underscoring their dedication to preserving democratic processes in Kenya.
