Affordable Housing Programme Is Unstoppable, President Ruto Insists
President William Ruto has asserted that the affordable housing initiative will continue without hindrance, despite an upcoming court ruling scheduled for January 26, 2024, which will ultimately decide the outcome of the housing levy.
While in Uasin Gishu County on Tuesday to inaugurate two affordable housing projects in the Kapsuswa and Pioneer regions, Ruto continued steadfastly in his commitment to building 250,000 affordable housing units nationwide.
“We have no time to waste, there is no room for delay, there is no room for sabotage, this program is not stoppable, this program is unstoppable,” he said.
President Ruto continued to criticize the Judiciary, emphasizing that the government’s programs should not be undermined by the Judiciary’s claim of independence.
“We respect the independence of the Judiciary but that independence does not extend to sabotage public interest, it does not extend to sabotage the public interest to denying Kenyans their constitutional right,” said Ruto.

The President expressed discontent with a small group of people scheming to prevent Kenyans from accessing job opportunities while the government plans to build 20,000 housing units in Uasin Gishu County.
“We must deal firmly and decisively with corruption in the Judiciary. Nobody should tell us that the independence of the Judiciary will be used to deny the people their rights nobody should tell us the independence of the judiciary also means that the judiciary is holy or sacrosanct, it is still subject to the people of Kenya,” he said.
The leader of the country also rebuked the opposition for their criticism of the government’s proposed policies.
“Upinzani waache kupiga kelele watuambie mpango wao tofauti na hii yetu ni gani itatoa ajira kwa hao wakenya waache kutuzungusha bure. Hii housing ilikuwa mpango ya 2017, UHV ilikuwa mpango wa 2017 wakatuletea kisirani, salamu, handhsake, bbi reggae hii kitu yote ikaharibika,” said President Ruto.
