Futile Fresh Talks: Ngunyi Doubts Azimio & Kenya Kwanza Progress
According to political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi. The recent bipartisan negotiations between the Azimio Coalition and the Kenya Kwanza faction will fail.
Saturday, Ngunyi expressed skepticism regarding the success of the discussions because they lack a grassroots foundation.
“These negotiations will fail. “No grassroots support whatsoever,” said Ngunyi.
He questioned what former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo intends to accomplish in Kenya.
According to Ngunyi, the conflict between Azimio Chief Raila Odinga and President William Ruto stems from their respective personalities.
“I do not comprehend. Why is Obasanjo going to Kenya to serve as a mediator? Political personalities between the Dynasties and the nation of Hustlers? He stated, “This is a complete waste of our national imagination.”
This comes after the Azimio Coalition agreed to appoint five members to a new dialogue commission comprised of five Kenya Kwanza representatives.

Former Nigerian President Obasanjo will facilitate the new discussions days after Ruto allegedly snubbed his Tanzanian counterpart Samia Suluhu.
Minority leader Opiyo Wandayi said in a statement on Saturday that the decision was reached after consultations with the Kenya Kwanza side under Obasanjo’s facilitation, “desiring a democratic and peaceful resolution of issues that plague our nation.”
“We, the leadership of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party, are committed to resolving our differences amicably for the benefit of all our people,” the statement read in part.
Under the terms of the new agreement, the two parties will establish a ten-member committee with five representatives each from Azimio La Umoja and Kenya Kwanza.
Wandayi stated that the committee will consist of four members from outside of Parliament, two from each party, the leaders of the National Assembly’s majority and minority, and four additional members of Parliament, two from each party.
“Additional information regarding this initiative will be communicated in due time,” Wandayi said.
The new development prevents Azimio from issuing new directives regarding their anti-government street demonstrations.
