Legal Limbo: Police Await High Command’s Nod to Present Pauline Njoroge in Court, Lawyer Reveals

Pauline Njoroge and two other individuals are still being held by police in Watamu, Kilifi County, and have not yet been brought before the court as was previously anticipated.

According to Pauline’s attorneys led by Ndegwa Njiru, their inquiries at the Watamu police station came to a halt when the officer in command of the station informed them that they were forbidden from appearing in court until they received orders from above.

“We are aware that other detained individuals from the same station in Watamu have been brought before the court. However, our clients continue to be detained in police cells.

We have been informed that there are pending orders from above, but we do not know which above this is. “The OCS is still unable to determine who should authorize Pauline’s court appearance,” Njiru said.

Njiru added that there are no records at the Malindi Law Courts indicating that the three suspects will be brought before the court.

The group, which also consists of attorneys Suleiman Lempaa and Sophia Rajab, is having difficulty producing their clients in court.

Pauline Njoki Njoroge, Jane Mwangi Nduta, and Emanze Jilani were detained after their vehicle was stopped by detectives on Friday along Watamu- Jakaranda road.

Upon searching their automobiles and hotel rooms, narcotics were allegedly discovered in their possession.

Jilani’s relatives have pleaded with the police to release him because he was merely performing his duties as a driver.

Jubilee leaders, led by Deputy Chairwoman Beatrice Gambo, erected tents at the Watamu police station to secure the release of the three detainees.
