Azimio Leaders Hold Public Barazas as Kamukunji Grounds Reopen

The Azimio la Umoja Coalition leaders arrived at the Kamukunji grounds in Nairobi on Sunday for their first public meeting since calling off countrywide mass protests.

The coalition’s leader, Raila Odinga, was joined by several other prominent figures, including Martha Karua, Kalonzo Musyoka, and Eugene Wamalwa.

The purpose of the public Baraza was to engage with the public and discuss issues affecting the country.

The Azimio coalition had previously declared that the Baraza would provide an opportunity for the coalition to have direct engagements with members of the public through town hall meetings and public Barazas.

The coalition’s statement, released on Tuesday, April 11, stated that the purpose of the meetings was to explain to the public where the coalition stood and the upcoming course of action following the suspension of protests.

The Azimio la Umoja Coalition had called for mass protests across the country to demand reforms ahead of the 2022 general elections.

However, the coalition suspended the protests and opted for dialogue after the government agreed to a set of demands, including the release of detained opposition leaders.

The Baraza was an important platform for the Azimio coalition to engage with the public and discuss issues affecting the country.

The coalition leaders used the opportunity to explain the coalition’s vision and plans for the country ahead of the 2022 general elections.

The public engagement was also an opportunity for the coalition to gauge public opinion and support for their agenda.

In conclusion, the public Baraza held by the Azimio la Umoja Coalition was an important engagement with the public, providing an opportunity for the coalition leaders to explain their vision and plans for the country.

The Baraza was part of a series of engagements with the public that the coalition has planned to explain their course of action following the suspension of protests.
