Jalang’o Brings Back Employee Who Stole Ksh2 Million
Phelix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o, a member of parliament for Lang’ata, has rehired Eli Khumundu, who along with a colleague stole Ksh2 million from him last year.
Eli revealed that he had been persuaded to steal from their employer by a coworker shortly after being reinstated to his previous position.
Eli told Jalang’o, in recounting the events of that day, that a coworker informed him there was Ksh1 million in one of the cars they were cleaning, and that they should steal it.
“I refused but then after some time I saw the gate was open and he (the colleague) had run away with the cash and our images were plastered on social media that we had stolen the cash,” Eli explained.
Eli received a Ksh500,000 bonus upon reuniting with his colleague. He did not realize until much later that the quantity was Ksh2 million and not Ksh1 million.
In an online video, Jalang’o revealed that Eli continued to beg for his old position even after fleeing.

According to the first-term representative, Eli returned to Bungoma but continued to harass Jalang’o for financial assistance.
“I did not benefit from the money. Part of the sum I used to bribe people when I was on the run and the rest I brought back,” he explained.
Jalang’o feared that a former trusted employee would pilfer from him once more.
Eli disclosed that he regretted his actions and would never again place his career and reputation in jeopardy.
Ironically, Eli disclosed that, despite the incident, Jalang’o continues to leave large quantities of cash in his vehicle.
While giving Eli his former job back, the representative denied that he had stage-managed the robbery for political gain.
At the time of the alleged theft, Jalang’o was a candidate for the Lang’ata parliamentary seat. He ultimately won the case.
Jalang’o has not yet rehired Eli’s former coworker, who fled to Laikipia and then Kikuyu after the incident.
