Zipporah Kittony Urges President Ruto to Pause and Heed Kenyan Voices Instead of Bragging

Zipporah Kittony, an advocate for women’s rights and a retired politician, has warned President William Ruto about his “chest-thumping leadership style while ignoring the cries of Kenyans about the high cost of living.”

The Moi-era politician and longtime chairperson of Maendeleo ya Wanawake asserts that the country is in a sorry state and calls for a national dialogue on Kenya’s future.

80-year-old Ms. Kittony stated that the government must listen to the voices of Kenyans and act on priorities that will improve the standard of living for ordinary citizens.

“I am very saddened by the state of our nation and the current leadership. In an interview with GossipA2Z, Ms. Kittony stated, “The leaders have so much ego and are so drunk with power that they are failing in their primary duty to lead and provide solutions to the problems plaguing our country.”

Reflecting on Kenyan politics on the occasion of her 80th birthday, the senior citizen expressed disappointment in the current tribally divisive and self-centered leadership.

A Moi-era pioneer expressed concern that Kenya was regressing in terms of democracy and accountable leadership, citing recent political events as evidence of a perilous trend in the government’s response to problems.

“I am fortunate to have witnessed five presidents since Kenya’s independence and the struggles we endured to become the most admired democracy in Africa. She told GossipA2Z during an interview at her Trans Nzoia home in Sibanga, Cherangany constituency, “I feel sorry for our children and future generations as a result of the current trend.”

“I would like to caution our leaders, both in the government and in the opposition, to watch what they say to Kenyans on public platforms. Leaders should not speak quickly without the public’s attention. She stated that it is extremely retrogressive for Kenyan leaders to divide Kenyans more than Kenyans themselves.

The former nominated senator urged Dr. Ruto to return to the drawing board and reorder his priorities, particularly regarding the tax plans and the country’s poor condition.

“As a word of caution, I want our leaders to cease their self-indulgence and put our nation first. In an emotional interview, Kittony told the president that Kenyans voted for him because they believed his promises and trusted him, but now he wants to tax even elderly women like her.

She urged President Ruto to reach out to the opposition to solve the problems facing Kenyans and ensure an ecologically and politically stable nation.

She also urged Dr. Ruto to respect the fact that Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Alliance won a significant number of votes in the most recent general election and to allow for criticism and dissent.

The leader of the women’s group also defended the actions of former President Uhuru Kenyatta in the current political climate, stating that the former head of state has the right to express his views on nation-building.

The retired politician expresses her desire for principled and accountable leadership in her autobiography, “Sheer Grit Kittony.” She urged female leaders to encourage and inspire young women to assume leadership positions and shine as alternative voices.

“Leadership women should not fear intimidation. This should motivate them to bring about change and improve society for future generations, she stated.
