WorldCoin: Kenyan Eye Scanner Billionaire Revolutionizes Digital Currency

While exiting a supermarket, you may have noticed people examining a round, silvery device labeled WorldCoin that was placed on a table.

WorldCoin was released on July 24 and immediately sparked a commotion in the country due to the platform’s provision of a token worth close to ksh7,000 upon registration.

What is Worldcoin and who is the brains behind this innovative financial technology?

The creator of WorldCoin was none other than the entrepreneur Sam Altman, who is also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of OpenAI, the company that created the language chatbot ChatGPT.

How WordCoin Functions

WorldCoin is an artificial intelligence-based digital financial technology that enables its users to create an identifier and trade cryptocurrencies.

The fundamental components of the technology are World ID, World App, and WLD Cryptocurrency Token.

To obtain access to the platform, users must register and generate a World ID by having their eyes scanned with a device called an Orb.

The purpose of this eye-scanning procedure is to verify the authenticity of users, ensuring that only actual humans are permitted to use the platform.

“World ID can also facilitate global democratic processes and novel forms of governance, such as quadratic voting, and may one day pave the way for an AI-funded UBI.

“To engage with the Worldcoin protocol, users must first download World App, the first wallet app that supports the creation of a World ID,” the WorldID website states.
