Without Raila At The Top, ODM Will Die – Mbeere North MP Ruku
Mbeere North Member of Parliament (MP) Geoffrey Ruku has opined that the absence of Raila Odinga at the helm of the Orange Democratic Movement Party (ODM) would cause the party to disintegrate.
Ruku implied that ODM members would shift to other political parties.
“The fact is without Raila at the top, there will be no ODM. ODM will die. Different members of ODM will go to other political parties, others will form other political parties. So we are going to see the total disintegration of ODM as it is,” he said on the K24 morning show.
He welcomed MPs leaving ODM to join the Democratic Party of Kenya to form a larger and more powerful party.

“We are welcoming them, especially to join the Democratic Party of Kenya so that we can form a bigger party, a powerful party that will capture power in the coming days,” Ruku uttered.
The MP’s remarks follow recent succession politics in the ODM party, where top members have expressed interest in taking the mantle if Raila is elected the African Union Commission (AUC) chairperson in 2025.
In anticipation of Raila’s exit, camps have emerged in ODM as long-standing members eye leadership positions.
This week, Raila is expected to hold a meeting to discuss the succession modalities that have threatened the party’s unity.
