Western Politicians Slam DP Gachagua’s Criticism of Mudavadi During Foreign Trips
Vice President Rigathi Gachagua’s ridicule of Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi’s international travels has heightened tensions between them.
On Monday, a group of Kenya Kwanza politicians from Western Kenya defended Mr. Mudavadi after Mr. Gachagua implied that the Prime CS’s foreign trips did not benefit Kenyans.
Mr. Gachagua reacted to reports that Mr. Mudavadi has been appointed by President William Ruto as his ambassador-at-large due to his international travels representing the Head of State.

In an interview with the media on Friday, the DP stated, “Let me tell you, the only foreign trip I will attend will bring development, as I have no interest in attending swearing-in ceremonies.”
“I’ve requested permission from the President to address the issue of alcohol and marijuana use among our youth. I am confident that they will be able to find employment following their reformation. This is a significant role and it is preferable to traveling abroad more than twenty times.”
Omboko Milemba, secretary-general of the Amani National Congress and member of parliament for Emuhaya, stated that Mr. Gachagua’s criticism of Mr. Mudavadi’s travels was unnecessary.
“There is no need to denigrate any government trips, as they are all taxpayer-funded and authorized by the President,” he said.
Rep. Beatrice Adagala of Vihiga stated that the DP lacked the understanding that “a country’s international relations are forged through friendly visits.”

“It is not required that you return from a foreign trip with a chest full of gold, like a pirate. She stated that he undermines the very reason we have foreign missions.

Ms. Adagala stated that Mr. Mudavadi’s role as Prime Cabinet Secretary includes assisting the president and the vice president and that he is not in competition with H.E. Rigathi.

He stated that Mr. Mudavadi is also essential to the reelection of the President in 2027.
