We’re not in Azimio on your invitation, Kioni tells off Mutua
Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has told off Azimio spokesman Makau Mutua over his earlier remarks on anyone from within the opposition coalition opposed to the National Dialogue Committee talks.
Mutua had on Monday said anyone who is against the Nadco report should leave the coalition.
Kioni in response said that no one was in Azimio on his invitation.
“Mwalimu, We’re not in Azimio on your invitation!” Kioni said.
Mutua insisted that the report was a result of a democratic process initiated by the coalition and should be respected.
“Azimio isn’t a forced marriage. Please leave if you can’t support the NADCO report which is the product of the party’s agreed democratic processes.”
His remarks came amidst the rejection of the report’s recommendations by Azimio co-principals Martha Karua and Eugene Wamalwa.

Karua has been calling on Kenyans to reject the report, terming it a “waste of time and taxpayers’ money.”
Speaking on Thursday, she said the report has not addressed key issues that forced Kenyans to demonstrate.
The cost of living, audit of the 2022 election, and respect for political parties and multiparty democracy, Karua stated, remain their concerns which must fully be addressed.
Former Defence CS Eugene Wamalwa said he refused to append his signature to the National Dialogue Committee’s report because he does not believe they did justice to the issue that was most pressing to Kenyans, which is the cost of living.
He said that he would also not accept any allowances that would come as a result of taking part in the talks.
Wamalwa was one of the people representing the Opposition side Azimio in the talks.
