Viral Sensation: 20-Year-Old Fred Otieno Draws Comparisons to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua
After Fred Otieno, age 20, was compared to Vice President Rigathi Gachagua, his videos were widely distributed.
One of the videos posted by his friend on TikTok received over 115,000 views in a single day.
During an interview with YouTuber Vincent Mboya on Thursday, July 6, a resident of Homa Bay County revealed he was nicknamed “Gachagua,” with the majority of interviewees arguing that they resembled each other.
The name became more prevalent after President William Ruto left office on September 13, 2022, and Gachagua assumed power on the same date.
The 20-year-old stated that he would travel to Nairobi for the very first time if he received an invitation to meet the DP.
In addition, he expressed his desire to return to school, having dropped out of fifth grade.

Residents claim that the 20-year-old was expelled from school because he was perceived as a slow learner.
After leaving school, he occasionally visited Mawego Technical Training Institute (TTI) to interact with other students and play.
Due to his resemblance to the DP, he became popular with TTI students and made friends with his peers.
The friend of Otieno who recorded the Tik Tok clip revealed that he only shared it to attract the attention of well-wishers who would sponsor the 20-year-old’s education.
I recorded a video of him. The video received over 115,000 views overnight and went viral. That’s when I began receiving calls from individuals requesting a meeting.
“As he comes from a modest background, I believed that if I took that video, people would come to his aid,” the friend explained.
In the future, Otieno hopes to pursue a career as a professional driver.
