US Woman Flees After Alleged Theft of Donor Funds Meant for Kenya
In South Carolina, USA, police are probing an incident involving a female church worker who allegedly embezzled donation funds intended for a project in Vihiga County.
According to a Western media source, the accused took Ksh157,069 from the “Dare to Care Mission” project, aimed at supporting families in Jebrock Town, Vihiga.
The woman’s identity was withheld, but she was responsible for managing the project led by Solid Rock Ministries. The project head, the pastor, had taken a leave following his wife’s passing.
The pastor’s wife reportedly took her own life in a State Park in Robeson County, North Carolina, on April 27, 2024.
The pastor was given time off in early May to arrange his wife’s funeral, and his responsibilities were distributed among church members.
The woman was tasked with withdrawing funds from church accounts for the Dare to Care Mission project.
However, she was accused of diverting the funds into her account and then disappearing.

A few days later, the pastor’s family created a GoFundMe page, asking donors to stop contributing to the Dare to Care Mission due to disputes over ownership.
Church officials declined to comment to the media about the situation.
South Carolina police mentioned that the church has not yet filed an official complaint about the issue.
The city attorney informed the press that the church might handle the incident as a civil matter, rather than pursuing legal action against the woman.
If the church does not pursue charges, the attorney will have to dismiss the case.
Currently, the church faces scrutiny following the pastor’s wife’s death. When questioned, the pastor maintained that his wife’s death was a suicide.
A post-mortem on the wife revealed she died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Her family, however, urged police to conduct further investigations due to her recent divorce filing.
