UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala Faces Expulsion Amid Internal Party Disputes
United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Cleophas Malala faces potential expulsion due to a petition demanding his removal.
Gossipa2z.com obtained a petition filed by Joseph Kalende Wabwire on June 5, accusing Malala of meddling in grassroots elections.
In this four-page document, Wabwire, a self-identified founding member of the UDA, further charged Malala with defying party leadership and fostering division within the party.
Wabwire’s petition outlined seven reasons for Malala’s ousting, including misappropriation of UDA funds, breaching the party’s constitution, and questioning Malala’s character and educational credentials.

The petition emphasizes the need to uphold the party’s founding principles and warns against actions that deviate from its goals, suggesting future leadership training for new officials to maintain the party’s integrity.
Malala, appointed as Secretary-General in February 2023, has recently faced political challenges.
In late May, Malala issued a warning to Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, and Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba over rhetoric suggesting Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s marginalization by UDA and a fallout with President William Ruto.
Malala criticized their conduct as undermining party unity and leadership, threatening disciplinary action if the behavior continued.
Kahiga, however, argued that Malala is unsuitable for his role and should be replaced in the upcoming party elections, reiterating his stance that Malala does not fit within the UDA leadership.
