UDA MP Samuel Moroto Regrets Voting for Ruto
Samuel Moroto, a member of parliament for Kapenguria, lamented on Tuesday his decision to support the current administration, adding that it might prevent him from accessing the biblical paradise. Moroto beseeched God for absolution.
Moroto expressed his discontent regarding the government’s perceived indifference towards the confrontations that claimed the lives of four individuals in his vicinity.
As per the Member of Parliament, the existing regime had abjectly neglected to fulfill its commitments, particularly regarding conflict resolution and the pervasive sense of insecurity in the North Rift regions.
“The lower part of the region, it is the govt that is triggering conflict and not any other government. It is this government. And am also a member of the UDA, and I regret why I chose it, and it may even cost me a place in heaven, I pray for forgiveness from God,” the MP complained.
As per the politician’s account, an individual who had recently obtained his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) was among those who perished.
The disgruntled commander additionally directed a finger of blame towards the Kenya Defence Forces personnel stationed in the vicinity. Kenyans.co.ke was unable to verify MP Moroto’s assertions independently.
“They’re using the equipment they have been given to finish off innocent people. I as the area MP have tried so much, including with the area elders, and the churches,” the MP, who was in the company of other leaders from the region, stated and further condemned the deaths.

The leaders urged the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination, Kithure Kindiki, and his Defense Counterpart, Aden Duale, to restore peace to the region expeditiously to prevent the escalation of the confrontations.
“The current government now is in place. They don’t even move close to people, they use drones to drop bombs and destroy things. The Interior CS only came here once and has never come back,” the MP said.
Furthermore, he drew a parallel between the present administration and that of the deceased President Daniel Arap Moi, asserting that the former had difficulty reestablishing rationality in the North Rift. Conversely, he praised the presidency of Mwai Kibaki for promoting harmonious cohabitation among the region’s communities.
Political, religious, and community leaders were cautioned by CS Kindiki on November 2 against instigating or financing banditry in the troubled regions. Those discovered to be responsible will be questioned and investigated, Kindiki warned.
Residents were further reassured by him that until the criminals are vanquished, the multi-agency security officers stationed in the six North Rift Valley Counties will remain on duty.
