Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Picks MCA Evans Kapkea as Deputy Governor
Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii has nominated Tembelio Ward MCA Evans Kipruto Kapkea as his new deputy.
This follows the recent resignation of Deputy Governor John Barorot who stepped down from the position to take up a new role as Chief Executive Officer at an international ICT firm.
Governor Bii has since forwarded Mr. Kapkea’s name to the County Assembly for vetting and consideration for eventual appointment.
“Following the resignation of Deputy Governor John Barorot and in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 32D 1 (a) of the County Government Act, 2012, the Governor has today the 21st Day of August, 2024 nominated Mr. Evans Kipruto Kapkea as nominee for the Deputy Governor, County Government of Uasin Gishu, and forwarded the name to the County Assembly for vetting and consideration,” read a statement to newsrooms.

Mr. Kapkea is the Chairperson of the the Uasin Gishu County Assembly’s Trade, Industrialization, Tourism and Investment Committee, and a member of the Budget, Finance and Appropriations Committee, Health Committee and Delegated Legislation.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Analytical Chemistry with Computing from the University of Eldoret, and is currently pursuing an MSc. in Analytical Chemistry at Moi University.
Governor Bii has also reorganized his Chief Officers, designating Ambrose Kiprotich Tarus to the Administration and Devolution docket, while Naomi Jelagat Tirop takes up the Public Service Management department.
The other reassigned Chief Officers are; Victorine Kapkiyai (Trade, Investments, Inductrialization and Tourism), Nathan Korir (Economic Planning), Geoffrey Tanui (Lands and Physical Planning), Mark Kipkemboi Some (Gender, Social Protection and Culture), and Eunice Jemutai Suter (Youth and Sports). was no time to waste and we decided that I go for it,” said Barorot.
