Two Killed, Scores Injured After Matatu Ferrying Foreigners Rams Into Truck In Nakuru
Two individuals lost their lives, and numerous others are currently recuperating from severe injuries at Nakuru Level Five Hospital following a harrowing traffic collision near the Sayatu area along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway.
The accident involved an 11-seater matatu affiliated with Eldoret Shuttles, transporting passengers of Eritrean descent bound for Eldoret.
Tragically, the matatu collided with a stationary truck parked alongside the road, resulting in the fatal outcome.
As detailed in a report lodged at Salgaa police station, the stationary truck had encountered mechanical issues and was left unattended on the roadway without any warning indicators.

The collision occurred under the cover of darkness, exacerbating the already precarious situation.
Upon arrival at Nakuru County Hospital, language barriers initially hindered the immediate identification of survivors.
Regrettably, two individuals succumbed to their injuries while receiving medical care, adding to the gravity of the incident.
Twelve others, ranging from critically to lightly injured, were admitted to the medical facility for treatment and observation.
The deceased individuals were transported to the Nakuru County morgue, pending formal identification procedures and postmortem examinations to ascertain the precise cause of death.
This tragic event underscores the importance of road safety measures and vigilance, particularly in areas prone to such accidents.
