Tragic Discovery: Three Women Found Dead in Beachside Shallow Grave

Nayeli Tapia, Denisse Reyna, and Yuliana Macias, 19–22, were beachgoers from Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas, Ecuador.

Three missing young women’s throats were slit and tortured in a shallow grave.

On April 7, fishermen in Quininde, Ecuador, saw a dog sniffing the ground along the Esmeraldas River and smelled a foul odor.

They were tied up and their mouths were covered, media in Esmeraldas Province reported.

“They were young, had beach clothes, bathing suits, light clothing, shorts,” Quininde Police officer Diego Velastegui told local media.

Nayeli Tapia, Denisse Reyna, and Yuliana Macias were the 19–22-year-old victims.

On April 4, they left Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas to go to the beach, 84 kilometers (52 miles) away.

Investigators have identified the rental car that took the victims women to the crime scene.

Their families reported them missing later that day.

Investigators say the women tortured and slit.

The victims’ families say they don’t know the friends they were supposed to meet.

The women killed on April 5 in Malimpia, a rural area of Quininde Parish.

Investigators have identified the rental car that took the young woman to the crime scene.

“All we want is justice,” Yuliana’s aunt Paulina Rueda told local media. “If the public knows, they should report who is responsible for this horrible femicide, because it’s three femicides in one day.”

Police found a cell phone and bodies, hoping it will help them solve the case.

Victim Nayeli, 22, lived in Quito but was from Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas. She modeled.

Yuliana, 21, sang with Las Diablitas.

Denisse, 19, studied agricultural engineering at Quevedo State Technical University.

Grieving Paulina told local media that she and other relatives have been receiving threats for demanding justice.

“I will stand until the last consequences,” she said.

She urged the public not to link young women’s deaths to drug trafficking.

The victims buried on April 9.
