Tragic Death of 21-Year-Old Uni Student in Thika: Horror as Ryan Kitari Found Hanging in His Apartment
The Witeithie community along Thika Road is reeling from the heartbreaking suicide of a university student, who, just hours before his death, shared a deeply emotional post on Facebook.
The post revealed his profound frustration with a lecturer and the personal hardships he was enduring.
In the lengthy message, the student accused the lecturer of unfair treatment, which he believed had shattered the only remaining hope he had. He described receiving disappointing results in his first year and alleged that, despite following departmental instructions and making adjustments, his efforts were dismissed or ignored.
The student also shared the significant financial burden he faced to keep up with his studies. He mentioned that while the head of the department acknowledged his participation in the mandatory teaching practice (TP), the lecturer in question disregarded his efforts.
The post painted a stark picture of his struggles, highlighting emotional and financial distress. He spoke about overdue rent, selling his gas cylinder to survive during exams and the hardships of being raised by a single parent.

“I chose to be a nice liar instead of a crybaby,” he wrote, explaining how he concealed his struggles by focusing on relationships and future goals to keep moving forward. Despite his best efforts to push through, he said the lecturer’s actions were the final blow.
In his final message, the student lashed out at the lecturer, blaming her for being the catalyst behind his tragic decision. His post ended with a chilling expression of his overwhelming despair and frustration.
