Thika Tragedy: MKU Student Plummets from 4th Floor in Balcony Mishap
Relatives and acquaintances of a college student hailing from Thika, situated in Kiambu County, were plunged into grief upon receiving news of her sudden demise on the evening of Sunday, March 17th.
It’s reported that the woman aspiring to become a nurse fell from the balcony of an adjacent apartment.
At that moment, she was attempting to enter her apartment via the rear entrance after accidentally locking herself out. Reports suggest that the deceased was trying to retrieve her keys to gain entry to the apartment.
Nevertheless, she stumbled, tumbled, and tragically perished instantly. Several witnesses asserted that she may have been intoxicated, potentially affecting her decision-making abilities.
Her peers from the prestigious college have expressed their grief for her and have also raised inquiries about the sudden choices that ultimately resulted in her passing.
The management of the apartment also extended their sympathies to the family of the deceased as they began to investigate the situation.

The authorities subsequently relocated her remains to General Kago Funeral Home in Thika while her family awaits the findings of the autopsy.
After the unexpected death of the student, citizens of Kenya are urging the government and other pertinent bodies to implement stricter regulations to ensure the security of residents in different apartment complexes.
Lately, there has been a surge in incidents where university students have tragically lost their lives in circumstances shrouded in uncertainty and mystery, including instances of some taking their own lives within their residences and dormitories.
In February, allegations surfaced against a fifth-year student at Machakos University, suggesting he had stabbed his girlfriend, a first-year student, following a heated dispute. This incident ultimately led to the apprehension of the suspect.
In September 2023, there was another occurrence documented at Strathmore University where a 22-year-old individual passed away after leaping from the fifth story of the Gateway Mall.
As the number of cases increases, the government has implemented additional measures to decrease the mortality rate among young Kenyans residing in rental apartments and short-stay accommodation facilities.
