Suspected Cult Leader in Nakuru Issues Warning Shot

Sunday, April 30, spiritual leader Hellen Wanjiru of Nakuru dissociated herself from the Army Rurwama cult.

Wanjiru, who was arrested after 31 church members were discovered in her home. Told the press that she was not part of the group that had left the church.

She asserted that God had sent her to correct how the faithful worshipped.

“Through prayer and fasting, I have fought for this country. “God revealed to me a new fasting plan and asked me to give it to the bishop because the approach they had been using was ineffective,” Wanjiru explained.

The suspect, who was released from jail without bail. Revealed that she had not attended church since 2009 because she believed the leadership had deviated from biblical teachings.

She added that she conducts her prayers and fasting at home, and none of her faithful are compelled to participate in her fellowship.

“Although people attend church and are prayed for, their lives do not alter. God once inspired preachers to serve as his vessels for the word, but this is no longer the case. For this reason, I left the church.

Wanjiru told KTN News, “They branded me a cult leader, but I have left God to deal with them, as he is the one who anointed me.”

A mother from Uasin Gishu reported the preacher to the police when her daughter and husband were traced back to her.

The complainant stated that despite securing a job for her daughter as a clinical officer, the daughter fled to Njoro and camped out at the suspect’s residence.

David Mbevi, the subcounty commissioner of Njoro, explained that Wanjiru claimed to be a spiritual leader when questioned.

“Neither the religious doctrine nor the evangelical facility was clearly defined. When her followers regard her as their spiritual mother, something is wrong,” Mbevi said.
