State House Swears In CAS Nominees
On Thursday, President William Ruto administered the oath of office to 50 nominees for the position of Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS). The ceremony was held at State House, a day after the official announcement of the nominees on Wednesday.
Although the 50 CAS nominees were expected to undergo vetting, the Speaker of the National Assembly referred the matter back to the President, stating that the August House lacks constitutional authority to vet the CAS nominees.
The President had nominated the Chief Administrative Secretaries from a shortlist provided by the Public Service Commission (PSC). Millicent Omanga, Isaac Mwaura, Dennis Itumbi, and others were among those who took the oath of office.
The CAS positions are relatively new in the Kenyan government structure, having been created after the 2017 elections.
The roles were established to assist Cabinet Secretaries in the performance of their duties.
The CAS is responsible for supervising specific departments and carrying out specific tasks within their respective ministries.
The swearing-in of the 50 CAS nominees is a significant step towards the realization of the government’s agenda.

With the CAS positions now filled, the Cabinet Secretaries can expect additional support in their efforts to implement the government’s policies and programs.
The new appointees will be expected to work closely with their respective Cabinet Secretaries and Permanent Secretaries to ensure that the government’s agenda is successfully executed.
The CAS nominees have been carefully selected based on their skills, experience, and qualifications.
The Public Service Commission played a critical role in shortlisting the candidates, ensuring that only the best and most qualified individuals were considered for the positions.
The swearing-in ceremony is an important milestone for the CAS nominees, who will now be expected to work diligently and effectively to serve the Kenyan people.
The country’s citizens will be looking to the new appointees to help drive positive change and progress in their respective ministries.
