State House Revamp Soars to Ksh 800M After Adjustments in Supplementary Budget

The Treasury’s supplementary estimates for development spending indicate that the State House in Nairobi will receive additional funds for its renovation plans.

According to the 264-page document held by Gossipa2z.com, Ksh26 million will be added to the renovation budget for the President’s official residence in Nairobi.

This adjustment increases the total renovation budget for Nairobi from Ksh795,471,940 to Ksh821,471,940.

The supplementary budget outlines that the extra Ksh26 million will be used to purchase specialized equipment and machinery.

    Budget Adjustment Strategy

While the renovation budget for State House in Nairobi has increased, the budget for State House in Nakuru has been decreased.

Initially, the renovation budget for Nakuru was set at Ksh105,490,000, but this was reduced by Ksh26 million.

As a result, the new budget for Nakuru renovations is now Ksh79,490,000.

    Renovation Initiatives

State House is currently renovating major facilities in Nairobi and various State Lodges throughout the country.

While renovations continue on the main building at State House, a new presidential dais and offices for President William Ruto have been constructed.

In the current budget set to end in June 2024, Ksh1.3 billion was earmarked for these renovation efforts, with most of the funds directed towards Nairobi and Mombasa.

Following the revisions to the supplementary budget, here are the allocations for the refurbishment and maintenance projects:

    • – Ksh821,471,940 for general maintenance works at State House Nairobi
    • – Ksh302,000,000 for refurbishment of buildings at Mombasa State House
    • – Ksh99,490,000 for refurbishment of buildings at Nakuru State House
    • – Ksh30,000,000 for general maintenance works at Eldoret State Lodge
    • – Ksh27,000,000 for general maintenance works at State House Sagana
    • – Ksh10,000,000 for rehabilitation works at Kakamega State Lodge
    • – Ksh9,940,060 for rehabilitation works at Kisumu State Lodge
    • – Ksh9,000,000 for general maintenance works at Kisii State Lodge
    • – Ksh798,000 for the mechanical garage
