State House Employee Arrested, Charged for Abusing Office
A high-ranking government employee serving as the Deputy Director for Programs, Public Policy, and Presidential Priority Initiatives faces charges.
On Thursday, April 18, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) issued a statement announcing that Pius Chirchir has been charged with abuse of office and attempted felony at the Makadara Law Courts.
After a thorough investigation by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the officer was accused of being involved in a case where he asked for a 2% share from Kentegra Pyrethrum Company Limited in exchange for helping them overcome obstacles created by established regulations.
“The Pyrethrum Act of 2013 requires farmers to use the electronic Tax Invoice Management System (eTIMS),” the statement notes in part.
Based on the investigation’s findings, Chirchir pledged to help the company restore its reputation in a matter involving the unlawful sale of two tons of Kentegra dried pyrethrum flowers.
On April 16, 2024, the suspect appeared at the Makadara Law Courts and faced charges for two different offenses.
