Stars Shine on Golden Hour Oscars 2023 Red Carpet: Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Austin Butler and More Glam Up for Hollywood’s Big Night

At the 95th annual Academy Awards, A-listers have arrived.

Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Florence Pugh, and Austin Butler were among the brightest stars on the red (or champagne) carpet, and the list continues.

Jamie Lee Curtis was all of us in Dolce & Gabbana
Austin Bulter, nominated for Elvis, went with a traditional tux
Mindy Kaling was breathtaking in a structural Vera Wang number
Florence Pugh’s look got some mixed reviews
Rihanna showed off her baby bump and gorgeous thigh cut-outs
Lady Gaga was one of the last to arrive but the wait was worth it

The Oscars will be held on March 12 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California, beginning at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

Jimmy Kimmel is hosting for the first time since 2017 for the third time.

For acting categories, Austin Bulter, Brendan Fraser, Ke Huy Quan, Ana de Armas, Michelle Yeoh, and Angela Bassett are among the nominees for the award show.

Steven Spielberg is up against the duo of Everything Everywhere All At Once for the directing award for The Fabelmans (as well as 10 other norms).

Lift Me from Wakanda Forever is nominated for the best song alongside Lady Gaga, Tems, Rihanna, Ryan Coogler, and Ludwig Goransson.

Gaga was one of the last to arrive, but they saved the best for last as she wore a “three-day-old” Versace sheer runway dress and a 1955 Tiffany necklace.

Fans are excited that Rihanna, who is expecting her second child, will perform her song at the Super Bowl, and she arrived late to the red carpet wearing all-black with her baby bump visible.

While everyone had hoped for a less dramatic event than the previous year, the fashion was undeniably dramatic and the looks continued.

    HERE COME THE WINNING LOOKS

Riri stunned while flaunting her baby bump in a sheer black gown
Ana de Armas posed on the champagne carpet in shimmering silver
Lenny Kravitz – performing tonight – rocked an all-black suit with some chest exposed
Emily Blunt, presenting with Dwayne Johnson, looked like a rock-solid pair
Michelle Yeoh of Everything Everywhere All At Once dazzled in every multiverse

In a teal cutout dress with a black cape, Laverne Cox, the pre-show host, held her own among the stars she interviewed.

Vanessa Hudgens wore a Chanel-designed black-and-white classic Hollywood gown.

Wow, honey! Sofia Carson wore her favorite Giambattista Valli dress with Chopard jewelry. Laverne commented on Sofia’s necklace containing 122.9 carats of diamonds.

Laverne joked, “The security is watching her” about the Descendants star nominated for Best Original Song for Tell It Like A Woman.

“A complete princess,” tweeted one fan. According to another, she “serves every carpet she is on.”

Jamie Lee Curtis dazzled in a D&G gown covered in crystals and advised future acting nominee hopefuls to “relax.”

She stated, “As we age, we gain an incredible amount of self-awareness.”

The nominee for Best Supporting Actress in Everything Everywhere All at Once was accompanied by her husband, the director Christopher Guest.

“Mother has arrived at the Academy Awards,” a fan tweeted about Jamie Lee. Another participant wrote, “I’m taking that trophy home.”

    EVERYONE PRESENT IMMEDIATELY

Halle Berry went for a beautiful updo that mirrored her floral accents
Elizabeth Olsen donned Givenchy looking gorgeous
Vanessa Hudgens matched her nails to her black and white Chanel show-stopper
Sigourney Weaver won everyone over in Givenchy

Elizabeth Olsen was stunning in a long, black Givenchy halter gown with a slicked-back bun and red lipstick.

With Givenchy fur that hugged her curves, Sigourney Weaver, who reunited with Aliens director James Cameron for Avatar: Way of Water, soared into the stratosphere.

Fans praised Mindy Kaling’s weight transformation as she exited The Office in a modern, all-white Vera Wang dress.

Tonight’s presenter, Florence Pugh, said she was going for “romantic and punk” by pairing shorts with a Valentino dress.

“Staring camp in the face,” a fan tweeted.

Another user commented, “her stylist set her up,” while a third stated, “love her down, but the hairstyle did not suit her, in my opinion.”

She paired the outfit with a Tiffany necklace to reference the Club Kid subculture.

Halle Bailey of The Little Mermaid walked the red carpet in a custom Dolce & Gabbana gown.

Halle implied that the highly anticipated film’s official trailer would be released tonight after the show.

Miles Teller arrived with his wife Kaleigh in a traditional black and white tuxedo; he is nominated for his performance in Top Gun: Maverick tonight.

Eva Longoria informed Laverne Cox that she is channeling a “disco-ball” tonight with her Oscars attire.

She is attending the Academy Awards for the first time as a director.

Although she is not nominated for an award tonight, she will serve as a presenter.

Austin Butler, nominated for Best Actor for his performance in Elvis, stated that the story he was conveying with his classic tuxedo was “Saint Laurent.”

    MORE GO-FOR-GOLD LOOKS

Nicole Kidman rocked a ‘power shoulder’ – the pre-show hosts praised, and florals were a theme as wel
Eva Longoria was giving shattered mirror but without the 7 years of bad luck
Angela Bassett stood out from the pack in purple that flowed as she walked

    NOT SO MUCH RED CARPETING

It’s worth noting that this year marks the first time since 1961 that the Oscars red carpet is not red.

Instead, celebrities walk on a champagne-colored carpet.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, creative consultants Lisa Love and Ral vila were tasked with reimagining the carpet color so that talent could more easily transition from daytime to evening arrivals.

“This is in preparation for the golden hour after the show,” Love explained.

Jimmy, the host, told THR, “We got it for a great price downtown.”

He also joked that the color change was intended to prevent drama: “People have been asking if there will be any trouble or violence this year. I sincerely hope not,” he stated.

“But if there is, I believe the decision to use a champagne carpet instead of a red carpet demonstrates our confidence that no blood will be spilled,” he somberly added.

Stephanie Hsu was also Everything Everywhere All At Once in a champagne-colored stunner
Cara Delevingne was a hit in crimson red
Best Actor nominee for The Whale, Brendan Frasier, looked dressed for success
