Standoff after police block Raila’s convoy in Narok
A standoff was witnessed on Sunday after police blocked Azimio leader Raila Odinga’s motorcade in Narok county.
Raila had just left a church service and thanksgiving for ODM nominated MCA Christine Lemeon and was heading to Narok town for a meet and greet session.
The police used a police lorry to barricade the road and block Raila’s motorcade.
He was accompanied by various Azimio leaders including Eugene Wamalwa.
The standoff promoted the Azimio boss to alight from his vehicle for a brief meeting with the officers.

Raila demanded to speak with the leader of the police officers saying it was unjust for the police to stop them on a public highway.
Police explained that there was a big procession and that’s why they had closed the road to avoid traffic.
“I’m a former Prime Minister of this country, you cannot block me because there is a procession in town. This is a highway,” Raila said.
After a brief negotiation, the police opened the road, and Raila and his convoy proceeded to Narok town.
Raila thanked the Maasai community for standing with him in the rehabilitation of Mau forest.
He said that Mau forest should be conserved at all costs as millions of people depend on it.
