Social Media Influencer Allegedly Abducted After Controversial Post About Ruto, Family Seeks for Help
The family of Peter Muteti, a prominent social media influencer, has appealed to Kenyans for assistance in locating him after his alleged abduction on Saturday, December 21.
Muteti is said to have been abducted by unidentified individuals, reportedly believed to be security personnel, following his controversial post of President William Ruto’s image on his X account.
Family members disclosed to the media that Muteti uploaded the contentious image on Thursday, December 19, but later removed it within hours.
Three days after posting the image, four men in a Toyota Prado allegedly abducted the influencer in Uthiru, Nairobi, at around 9 a.m.
Relatives reported that Muteti had previously received threats on his social media platforms and was being followed by unidentified individuals.
Witnesses claimed that on the day of his abduction, two armed men jumped out of a moving car, forcibly placed him inside a vehicle with two others, and then sped away.

Shortly after the incident, Muteti’s phone became unreachable, leaving his family unable to contact him despite multiple attempts.
A family member recounted, “Yesterday, he went out for breakfast and never returned. When I went downstairs, residents told me he had been abducted.”
Another family member added, “On Friday, he noticed suspicious individuals around, which prompted him to delete the post due to fear after receiving threats.”
During a press briefing, the family revealed that police initially claimed no information about Muteti’s whereabouts despite their efforts to involve law enforcement.
Detectives from Kabete Police Station have since launched an investigation into Muteti’s disappearance, aiming to uncover his location.
The case highlights growing concerns over a surge in abductions across the country, which persist despite government assurances of public safety.
