Siaya Deputy Governor Reports Strained Relationship with Governor Orengo Amid Office Disruptions
Siaya Deputy Governor William Oduol expressed that his professional rapport with Governor James Orengo has deteriorated significantly following a threat of ousting him from his position.
Addressing the Standing Committee on Devolution and Inter-Governmental Relations on Thursday, Oduol highlighted persistent frustrations from the county government, including the denial of facilitation fees and allowances.
Oduol alleges that Governor Orengo has employed individuals to barricade his office, effectively rendering it non-functional and impeding his ability to fulfill his responsibilities.
He regrets that efforts to address these occurrences have been futile, prompting him to escalate the matter to the committee for further action.

“I would make sure that the Governor has visibility of all these letters and the County Assembly including the committee in charge of oversight. I have requisition for allowances for me and my staff here, they have never been paid,” he said.
The committee has decided to include Orengo’s defense in its discussions as it aims to facilitate reconciliation between the two parties.
Oduol managed to avoid impeachment in June last year despite facing accusations of severe breaches of the Constitution and misuse of power following a bitter falling out with Governor Orengo.
Oduol has expressed willingness to collaborate with the Kenya Kwanza government after being disowned by members of his party, the Orange Democratic Party (ODM), who accused him of disrespecting his superior.
